Happy Monday! What a weekend! Friday started off spending a lovely dinner at a friends beautiful home in West Hartford, CT. One of many share worthy highlights of the evening was this powerful quote on the hosts kitchen wall:
Don’t complain about the way the ball bounces if you dropped it. unknown
Powerful right!? Take that magic into your Monday and week and enjoy the inspiration in this weeks newsletter.
The Natural Hair, Beauty & Wellness Expo on Saturday June 3rd was EVERYTHING. This shot above captures a snippet of the magic, check out the full album here. For those of you who were fortunate enough to add to the black girl magic this event offered, THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart, I adore and appreciate you. The energy was so amazing on so many levels. By the way in the Thursday’s Things To Do & See email, I will notify the two expo door prize winners. Gift Hint: BSW’s new goodie box (last week I told you I’ve been working on some exciting things).
Yesterday was Selfie Sunday!
And these beauties joined in on the magic by sharing their selfies. To participate in upcoming Selfie Sunday’s, join us in our Brown Skin Women group on Facebook here>>. The beauties who share are featured on our Facebook and Instagram accounts to constantly remind the Universe and people in it, how magical we are.
I love myself a good Sunday Brunch with a Mimosa Bar!
Yesterday (Sunday), while my body was in dire need of recovery from the expo magic, I built enough strength and energy to attend the Brunching with MAMAJS fundraiser for our youth partnership through nonprofit RISEUP (learn more here). It was full of tasty egg sandwiches, bottomless mimosa’s and community support and love. Stay tuned for details on the Brown Skin Women Brunching with MAMAJS later this Summer. Proceeds will benefit for the 4th annual Youth Weekend Retreat where 5 young ladies attend a life changing three-day, two night experience with me and a few collaborators, at no cost to their families.
This week, I’m hosting Goddess Meditation Classes in the Events + Beauty Showroom today at noon, Wednesday at 6pm and Saturday at 9am in downtown Hartford. Yoga mats are included. Join me. Exciting news: My classes are going live in a few weeks! So no matter if you’re near or far, you too will be able to participate.
A tasty kale and tofu salad to try this week (my current lunch FAV).
Natural living for me is all about how I feel on the inside. The way in which I treat myself and the fuel I feed my body. Becoming a pescatarian was and still is all about preference. Healthy eating was and still is all about self-love. I’m sharing more intimate parts of my relationship with food, and this Sesame Ginger Kale and Tofu Salad is my latest lunch crave. Check out the recipe here>>.
Here’s some of the latest inspirations I’ve been loving on and sharing.
Being An Entrepreneur. 8 years ago last week, I decided to go for it. If I could give one solid bit of advice to entrepreneurs treading this taxing yet rewarding entrepreneurial journey, it would be to prioritize your mental wellbeing. It allows you to place healthy boundaries around your desires. Team no sleep, silently suffering through mental issues and ESPECIALLY stress, walking away from jobs that provide some levels of financial security while you build, making logical NOT emotional decisions, etc….are all boundaries. Self awareness/mental wellness helps align who you are with where you want to be. Be healthy, be happier.
GOAL DIGGING WOMEN
“Be persistent. If you want something, go get it. Ask for it. And before you accept “no” for an answer, challenge it (politely, of course). Try to get an understanding of why you’re being turned down. Any feedback you get can be used to get a yes, change your pitch, or even change your product/service offering. Treat every encounter as a learning opportunity.”
